This is a soft bound book by Charles Pittman who tells the wonderful story of a slave in Georgia who was so close with "his master" that he accompanied him to the Civil War. His full life is narrated by Charles Pittman.  He had a rich life, and all of the people who employed him loved him.  The book tells of all his travels. He had a mission to find his former "owner", finally finding him at the home for Confederate Soldiers in Atlanta.  He adopted all the residents by providing treats for the former soldiers who were barely provided for. He was later honored after his death by Governor Sonny Purdue.

This huge book is a first edition, which sadly someone decided to replace original covers with a library binding. The interior pages are very clean, with one page repaired.  It is discrete.  Publisher: J. B. Lippincott, Philadelphia, 1896. 690 pages.  This book with its original covers goes for $12,000.

Soft bound book on the life of General Joseph B Palmer, CSA.  The book was published in 2000 by the author Robert O. Neff. 211 pages It's a good read.

This may be the most important Tennessee Regimental history, and certainly I have referred to it on many occasions while researching. As can be seen in the scans, the book is in very poor condition and attempts to restore it by someone made it worse.  I’m going to let the scans speak for themselves. This is a first edition (1986) and signed by the author James Hoobler.  It is filled with the images by George N. Barnard & others of occupied Nashville and Chattanooga. Good condition despite me referring to it all the time over the years.   

Neale Publisher in 1929.  Discrete ex-library copy.   This is considered to be the best source on General Hood's failed campaign. General wear and failed attempts to disguise the library markings. clean interior.  Author is Thomas Robson Hay.

Soft bound book by Arcadia.  2008. The author is Myers E Brown II.  Excellent condition. Images and short biographies of men that are shown. 

This is the story of young Sam Davis who was a scout and spy for the Confederate Army. McCowat-Mercer Press-1961. Author Mabel Goode Frantz. Sam Davis was hung because he refused to disclose the source of the papers found on him.  Some wear to the dust cover and the gold gilt on the boards are faded

This book was written by James Lee McDonough in 2004. presumed first edition. The Complete title is Nashville the Western Confederacy's Final Gamble. Nice copy except for two tiny spots on the bottom of the front board. University of Tennessee was the publisher. 358 pages

Nice clean copy of Walter T Durham's book which covers the occupation of Nashville. Some wear to the top of the dust cover. Signed by the author. Published by the Tennessee Historical Society. 327 pages.  This book is the sequel to his other book on the occupation of Nashville by the federal army

This book covers the occupation of Nashville by the Union Army covering the first seventeen months.  Signed by the author, presumed first edition, 1985.  Nice clean copy and dust cover.

This book was printed in 2001 and the co-authors are William C Floyd and Paul Gibson.  Signed by Floyd.  208 pages .  It covers the students from Cumberland who enlisted in the Confederate army.

Some wear to the dust cover and spine split on the title page. Tight binding other than the split .Staining on the closed pages. Published in 1987 by the Colonial Press.  The book has stories about the war and Tennesseans.

Nice clean reprint copy of this famous battle. 1982 Morningside Edition

Nice hardboard book printed by Grissom in 1994. 384 pages in excellent condition.  This book is filled with interesting photographs.  A must have.

This is a hardbound book.  Dust cover is present but in worn and with tears. It is an unedited diary and letters of Ira Pettit, a Union Private, who fought on the battlefields of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg and the Wilderness, and who died in the squalor of Andersonville.  This is the 1976 edition.430 pages. 

This is an undated reprint of George F Robertson's book, done by Robert Robinson Orr.  The autograph of Robertson is also copied.. 117 pages.  One of the chapters is on the death of General Morgan.  Excellent condition.

Complete title is  Ashby Camp Revisited: A Chronicle of the Veterans of the Confederate Army Who Lived in the Lower Region of the Shenandoah Army After the War.  Signed by both authors, Robert Maffin and Richard Radi. Softbound booklet  Poor and worn condition.  See scan.  What you can't see is some stains on the closed pages at the bottom.  Interior pages are clean.

Great regimental history written by John J Fox III, printed by Angle Valley Press in Winchester Va. Consider this a reading copy as the boards are swollen. Clean interior

Super rare little pamphlet which last time I heard went for $750.  The condition is terrible as far as the wraps go and there is a lengthwise fold.  Someone also tore off the bottom of the tittle page and the other pages have deliberate long light pencil strokes on them. Attempts were made to erase the pencil markings.  I'm speculating that some durn Yankee defaced this book which is an eye account of the Battle of Franklin and its aftermath.  Eleven pages and ads of Franklin businesses in the front and back.

8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, soft bound and self published. It covers the campaigns of the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry, USA. 166 pages. 

Soft bound book published in 2002.  It is the story of the 12th Tennessee Cavalry, Richardson's Brigade, Forrest's Cavalry Corps in the Confederate Army. 211 pages which includes a complete roster of the 12th. Writers club press.

Handy little book which measures 7 by 5 inches.  Published by Gary Ray Goodson Sr.  This brigade was part of the Army of Tennessee which started out with 7,000 and reduced to 400 men. History and rosters.

Very Good, First Edition, 2 Volume set,  illustrated, Rare, red cloth with gilt lettering on front cover and spine, edges of board slightly bumped.  As can be seen in the scan the gold gilt is stronger on one volume than the other.  Inked signature of a previous owner on the front fly page. Tightly bound and clean pages.

This was published by the Whitehall Press in Atlanta Ga, 1955.  Presumed to be a first condition.  Some wear to the dust cover at the top spine. The book itself is in good condition.

Publisher: Mercer University Press, Macon, GA, 2004.  Joe Brown was Governor during the Civil War and the Georgia Militia were permitted to fight only when the enemy had actually crossed the state line.  They were mostly young boys under seventeen or elderly men who were too old to be conscripted. This book is in fine condition.

This book was published in 1990 by Bonanza Books.  Clean interior but some wear to the dust cover, including a tear near the spine.

Great book on the events of the Union capture of Forts Henry and Donelson which led to the occupation of Nashville.  Published by U of Tn Press in 1987. Minor wear

This is a complete six volume set published by the National Historical Society through Doubleday in 1984.  Filled with illustrations relating to the Civil War.  Condition on dust covers may differ.somewhat.  Will be sent by media mail and excessive postage paid will the refunded.

This is catalog 11 of Gary Hendershot's auction.  It is an important reference for Leech & Rigdon Weapons.  Also includes David C Kelley Collection of the 4th Tennessee Cavalry/Forrest's Brigade.  Memphis Plow Works.  Great illustrations

This is volume 2 of Hudson Strode's biography of Jefferson Davis.  This focuses on the period when he was President of the Confederate government.  This is a first edition, New York: Harcourt Brace & Co., 1959.  The dust cover is in very poor condition, with a large area missing on the front cover and also on the right edge.  See scan. I have found this book to be valuable for research purposes.

In the Saddle Exploits of the 5th Georgia Cavalry was printed by the Schiffer Military History in Atglen, Pa.1999.  Book was written by the great great grandson of a combatant, who collected information, letters, and memoirs of the soldiers of the 5th Ga Cavalry.  120 pages with some photographs.

This is a 1993 reprint of the book which was originally printed in 1912. Published by Americana Historical Books in Fayetteville Georgia.  Circular stain on the dust cover,  probably from a removed price sticker.  The author was A P Adamson

This is the second edition printed in 1917.  Neale Publishing Company and written by General G Moxley Sorrel commanding A P Hill's 3rd Army corps, Army of Northern Virginia.  

Pretty decent condition by the rabid Unionist from Tennessee The corner tips are damaged, intact binding though a small split.  Brownlow was the Editor of the Knoxville Whig and the reconstruction governor of Tennessee.  That's all I want to say about him. Important first edition and rare work by Jordan, Thomas and Pryor, The Campaigns of Lieut.-Gen. N.B. Forrest, and of Forrest's Cavalry. New-Orleans: Blelock & Company, 1868. 1st ed. 704 pp. Portrait frontis., portraits, maps (some folding). Contemporary 3/4 calf and marbled boards.  The book is quite scuffed and the title has been replaced with a black leather strip.  Wear to the spine and to the edges and corners of the boards.  The scan is darker than the book which is light brown.  Pages are tightly bound and slightly brown resulting in some chipping of the tips of the pages.  Nathan Bedford Forrest 

This is a small little soft bound booklet which tells the very interesting narrative of Bill Yopp, otherwise known as "10-Cent Bill".  It is a very scarce reprint of the original story that was published in 1920.  There is an Introduction by Charles W. Hampton. Nice condition.   It reprints the text of 1920 edition with a new intro. by Hampton, the "great-nephew of Captain Thomas Yopp, who was the master of Bill Yopp." 

This is a first edition, bound in the original leather covers.  That's the good news.  The bad news is that it is in extreme need to rebinding or repair.  One plus inch tear at the bottom spine, wear to the bottom and top edges of the spine.  Chip out of the top of the spine on the top spine.  Binding is loose and all the pages preceding the title page are loose which are worn.  Old attempt to tape the pages which was removed but is stained.  The same problem at the end of the book that is stained on one page where the old tape is removed.  The next page has white tape on the last blank page.  The book is very dusty.
