The Gallant Hood-John Dyer
Item #: NEW-009512

First edition as stated. Published Bobbs-Merrill, Indianapolis-New York. Bumped spine to the boards and some chipping to the top and bottom spine which is a little sunned. Missing area at the bottom of the front dust cover flap, probably where the price was. The biggest condition problem is that a previous owner attached the dust cover to the book with scotch tape. Some of the tape remains and has caused staining. The tape is very old and impossible to peel off and if you did there would be a dark acidic marking. Interior of the book is very clean.

Tract-Debate On Pensioning Jeff Davis
Item #: NEW-009404

Interesting publication containing the debate in the Senate on adding an amendment to a bill which was appropriating funds for pensions of Mexican War veterans. The amendment by R. Hoar of Massachusetts was to prohibit Jefferson Davis from ever receiving his pension. I haven't read all of it but it appears that Davis had never applied for the pension that he was legally entitled to and also that Davis had many supporters in the senate. The amendment was struck down and the bill passed. Ink stains on front and other minor wear, not worth mentioning. Eight page booklet was folded and mailed in an official envelope to Chauncey G? Clinton Co NY. Free frank from the House of Representatives.
