Attractive hard back book written by Kenneth E Bressett with The American Numismatic Association.  Small tear in the back dust cover.  Beautiful photographs of coins.  320 pages

This is quite a rare book which is listed at $100 and over on the booksite I checked.  It was published in 1993. Soft bound booklet with some wear to the spine.85 pages regarding the history of coal mining in America, the evolution of "tokens" as a form of currency, and the geology of coal production..

This is a soft bound booklet printed in 1986 and showing the exposition of his art displayed in the Georgia Museum of art. Folk artist.  Scan doesn't show the complete booklet but it is complete.47 pages

This little treasure covers the dates of 1889-1921.  This is the only first issue that I was able to find on line and the copies were listed at very high prices.  This was in the discard pile at the Macon Georgia Friends of the Library. All proceeds will go the this group. It is soft leather bound and the leather cover is separating from the blank page.  It could easily be glued down.  It is 68 pages and measures 7 and a half by three and 3/4 inches. I have used this little book extensively over the years.  It covers a vast variety of subjects, covering the care, conservation, and repair of historical items.  Ephemera, books,wood, leather and ferrous objects, textiles, glass, ivory and more. Softbound with 160 pages.  Ex-library volume shown in stamp on the back of the cover.  Some wear, including the front cover still connected to the text but glue is showing. 

Massive book, 208 pages as new.  Lawrence Jones is a prominent collector and historian. This book is loaded with photographs relating to Texas, many of which came from his collection.  This is a must have for anyone interested in the history of Texas.  Published in 2014 by Texas A & M. The book is now out of print.

This is a fairly scarce book priced cheaper than the few copies.  Printed by the John Bradford Press in Lexington Ky. in 1960.  Complete with the dust cover which has some tears. 531 pages. Pencil notation of a previous owner.  Clean interior pages

This small  soft bound booklet was published by the Middle Georgia Historical Society in Macon Ga. Some wear with a small crease on the cover and a tear at the bottom of the spine.  There is some written notations in some areas.  

Second title to this book is The Growth of Ramsey by John Y Dater, Founder and Editor of the Ramsey Journal, 1949.  The book was encased in a blue binding and the pamphlet can be seen in the scan. There is an inked signature on the back of the front board.  Condition of the interior is mixed, with some tears, light print and ink splotches is several pages. There are interesting illustrations.

Lists of Emigrants to America 1600-1700.  Printed by the Genealogical Publishing Company in 1978.  The original book was printed in 1874 in England and it covers the immigrants from Britain to America.  580 pages.  This book was used by a genealogist so there are markings throughout the book.  Fly page has the person's name in ink and a pasted in name and address.  Some wear to the spine but otherwise this book is in good condition.

These are two soft bound books, American for Sale by Douglas Congdon-Martin published in 1991 with corner crease on the front and Country Store Antiques by Douglas Congdon-Martin published in 1991.  You can probably find the values of the items on-line but it won't give you the joy of seeing all the rare advertising items shown in these two books.

This is a handy little reference booklet by Rick Brown, expert in collectible newspapers.  It contains information on the fake Lincoln New York Herald newspaper printed after he was killed and other famous historic papers.  Twenty pages with six pages of the most important news events papers with a price guide.  Wear to the booklet, including one page which has two vertical creases. The price guide is likely out dated but it does list important issues to look for. 

Large volume, originally published in 1935 by Funk and Wagnalls.  This is the second edition which was published in 1947.  782 pages.  The boards are  damaged with shelf wear on the ends and spine appears cracked, though not separated.  Interior appears clean. This book was printed in 1998 and is an excellent reference of the different categories of ephemera.  224 pages with numerous illustrations.

This is a hardcover book printed in 1994.  Excellent condition, other than some corner wear on the bottom corner to the book and dust cover.  This book gives you pointers on avoiding fake letters and documents.This is a must for the autograph collector. This would be a great book for the bank collector as it has so many color illustrations of banks. 171 pages, hardback book, publisher Schiffer.Printed in 1993 so the price guide would not be reliable but informative in other ways for the serious collector. There are 191 pages in this hardbound book which was updated in 1997 with regard to prices. I suppose this is no longer needed with all the information on the internet but nothing beats being able to look at all the beautiful color illustrations in this book.There are more than 500 color photos of store fixtures, showcases, advertising items, patent medicines, dye cabinets, coffee mills, and much more. The historical text is paired with period photos of actual stores. Can be sent media mail for a savings and any excessive postage will be refunded.

This is a 151 page soft bound booklet which covers the main aspects of collecting newspapers.  I have always loved old newspapers which will teach you more history than the history books.  It covers many subjects including a price guide, the care and preservation, how to detect reprints and other such subjects. This is a first edition, as stated by Philip B Kunhardt Jr and other family members.  Published by Alfred A Knopf, N Y, 1995.  358 pages, chock full of illustrations, including color.  This is a great read and a wonderful reference of all the members of Barnum's shows. This is the 1960 and the second edition of the most important books in U S history.  A book dealer friend of mine told me that every book listed is a book worth reading.  I don't know that that is true but I certainly found it most useful on many levels and would recommend it to any book collector.   

232 pages of this useful reference on tokens from Georgia.  Published in 1990.  New.  I was surprised to find that the two tokens I'm offering with the book was not listed. Token reads Bibb Mfg Co, Spooler-Check No One Mill.  One has a D on the back and the other A D and a 5.

Scarce booklet printed in 1971. In colonial days this town rival Savannah as a port and trading center and produced many famous Georgians. Soft bound booklet with stained cover. 64 pages.  

The is a 17 page article taken from the Journal of Mississippi History XVIII (January 1956) and written by Herbert H Lang.

This is a soft bound booklet which was published is 1935 by Reau E Folk who was Chairman of the Tennessee Commission of Research as to the True Value of the Victory at New Orleans. 48 pages.  Published by Ladies’ Hermitage Association in Nashville Tn.  Pencil notation on cover which reads Andrew Jackson.  Library stamp of Pearl High School in Nashville.  No other condition problems.

Two autographed soft bound booklets by Barbara Duffey covering "true stories from the South" and Georgia. Angels and Apparitions was published by Elysian Publishing in Eatonton, Ga in 1996 and the other was published in 1995 by the Rockbridge Publishing in Berryville, Va.  Minor wear.

This is a first edition from the LSU Press, printed in 1958.  There is shelf wear to the boards and the dust cover, including chipping. Someone wrote some numbers in ink on the front dust cover which can be seen in the scan.

This is a chronicle on the life of the notorious bandit Jesse James and his brother.  There are numerous references to their life in Nashville Tennessee. Some minor shelf wear to the dust cover, otherwise in good condition. Published by Cumberland House in Nashville Tennessee in 2000.

Average condition on this book which is a novel based on the small community of Spring Hill, chosen by General Motors for the building of The Saturn.  Tom T Hall was a country music star.  There is an inked signature of the previous owner.

Complete title of this book is History of Telfair County from 1812 to 1949. This is a very rare book and  lowest price on the web.  The boards are unattractive as can be seen in the scans but the binding is tight and the interior clean.  It contains information on the Civil War participation of the County residents as well as other information on the county and its resident.  Printed by the Burke Co in Macon Ga in 1949.

This lot consists of five soft bound booklets, a couple of which are priced quite highly on the web.  As always, I have priced much lower that others available.  I'm not a native Georgian but read all of these and found them quite interesting with their unique histories.  The first is Frederica: Colonial Fort and Towon by Trevor R Reese, published in 196o.  Minor wear.  The second is King's Retreat Plantation St. Simons Island, Georgia Today and Yesterday.  Publisher Mildred Huie Wilcox in 1980.  The cover of this booklet has a deep vertical crease.  The third book is Hampton Plantation at Butler Point on St. Simons Island, Georgia by Bessie Lewis, Copyright date 1978.  Some coffee stains on the cover. and the last booklet is Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Hopetown-Altama-Elizfield South Altamaha Delta River Rice Plantations Glynn County Georgia. Copyright 1992.  Good condition.

Soft bound booklet printed in 1961 by the Florida State University Library.  Signed by the author. The original printing of this book was in 1894. Good condition.  I could find only one example on the web that was available at the time of this listing and it was priced over double this price.  The book covers the Cattlemen's invasion of Wyoming in 1892.

This little (6 x 4 inches) softbound booklet (160 pages) was evidently published on a yearly basis in the early 1900's as A Compendium of Useful information for Every Horse Owner. I have been unable to find another example on the web. The booklet is intact but the back cover has chipped off.  You can see the chipped corner on the front

This would make a neat item for a country store display.  I could not find an example of this for sale on the web although it is recorded in several historical websites.  This book, however, is earlier than the books cited and was published in 1856. The original book was printed in 1830 by Joshia Loring.  The book was made for the use of merchants, in this case Carhart & Curd of Macon Ga, so that they could "ascertain the cost of imported goods, and to sell by advance."  The book seems to have different titles, "Tables of Advance British Sterling" and "Tables of Discount on British Sterling" Enoch Chase published the book in 1856.  The front cover is missing and you can see the condition of the front end paper in the second scan. The books is divided into two parts, half upside down, presumably as made.  The books measures 9 and a half by 5 and a half inches.  The pages are made of rag. The book is still bound with the exception of one page which is loose.  It's appears to be complete but it is hard to tell.  The book was found in the walls of a house that was being worked on.  The book is very dingy in areas and has a musty smell.  Airing it out should improve the smell.  The dinginess is most prominent on the end papers, title page and the next few pages, which also are creased. By far most of the pages are clean.

Signed by the author on the title page.  Published in 1997 by the Utah State Historical Society.  417 pages including index.  Illustrations.  Very nice copy.

Author Charles Kelly-publisher Jack Bacon & Co-Reno Nevada-2005.   The fascinating history of Caleb Greenwood who led emigrants to California through hostile Indian territory. This is a reprint of the 1965 book.  There is a clear sticker on the first page stating that the book was in honor of someone's retirement.

1958 edition of this important work in 1881 by Thompson and West. 680 pages with numerous illustrations.  See scans to view the long crease in the spine.  Back board is curved inward giving the book as little lopsided.   Lowest price on the web at the time of this listing. 

Unpaged typewritten material consisting of Elizabeth James's remarkable letters to her family in St Louis, covering an eight month tour around the world. I haven't counted the pages but am guessing it is about 60 pages.  The covers are of a suede like material but are quite worn at the edges and partially detached. This came in a lot that I purchased and I decided to read it before I tossed it.  The letters were quite interesting and informative about the many countries she traveled to.   Miss James's father was evidently a very important man as wherever her entourage traveled they met with movie stars, ambassadors and heads of state.  She was very astute in sensing the furtive preparations for war in Japan. and experienced two typhoons. She was quite enamored with China and Japan not so much. 
Here are some of the names mentioned in the journal-Mr & Mrs Herbert Fleishacker, Mr. Lasker (her host and chaperon),  Gene and Mary Sarazen, Doris Kenyon, Mrs. Milton Sills, Victor Moore, Billy Gaxton, Chris Holmes ("Fleischman's Yeast people") General Moses "head of the whole army-Honolulu") President Quezon, Boyden Sparks (Sparkes) who was writing a biography of Mr Lasker, whom I believe was Walter D Lasker,  and others too numerous to mention.
