This movie is on the list of the 100 greatest lost films. According to Wikipedia On the Banks of the Wabash is a 1923 American silent rural melodrama film directed by J. Stuart Blackton and produced and distributed by his movie company, Vitagraph Studios. The film is very loosely based on Paul Dresser's song/poem "On the Banks of the Wabash, Far Away". The film was an expensive production, with full-size riverboat steamboat and location shooting. It was one of the last major productions by Vitagraph before they were bought by Warner Bros.
The film stars Mary Carr. Among the cast are 14-year-old Madge Evans, Mary Carr, and James W. Morrison. The cameraman was Nicholas Musuraca. Reportedly, a private collector holds an abridged, or shortened, version of this film.

The Ten Commandments is a 1923 American silent religious, epic film and produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. Written by Jeanie MacPherson, the film is divided into two parts: a prologue recreating the biblical story of the Exodus and a modern story concerning two brothers and their respective views of the Ten Commandments.
Lauded for its "immense and stupendous" scenes, use of Technicolor process 2, and parting of the Red Sea sequence the expensive film proved to be a box-office hit upon release. It is the first in DeMille's biblical trilogy, followed by The King of Kings (1927) and The Sign of the Cross (1932).
The Ten Commandments is one of many works from 1923 that will enter the public domain in the United States in 2019. ;Wikipedia

Silent Movie Herald-Richard Barthelmess in "21"
Item #: NEW-0017081
|
|
This little herald measures 4 1/4 and 3/1/4 inches. There are no condition problems. The ink writing is giving the dates of the showings. I found this mini-biography on the web written by Tony Fontana. Richard Barthelmess was born into a theatrical family in which his mother was an actress. While attending Trinity College in Connecticut, he began appearing in stage productions. While on vacation in 1916, a friend of his mother, actress Alla Nazimova, offered him a part in War Brides (1916), and Richard never returned to college. He appeared in a number of films before signing a contract with D.W. Griffith in 1919. Griffith put Richard into Broken Blossoms (1919) with Lillian Gish which made him a star. He had an uncanny ability to become the characters he played. The next year, he was again teamed with Lillian in Way Down East (1920). This film would become the standard for many movies in the future. Best remembered is the river scene in which Richard jumps over the ice floes in search of Lillian as she heads towards the falls. He formed Inspiration Pictures to make Tol'able David (1921) and gave one of his best performances as a lad who saves the U.S. mail from the outlaws. He remained popular throughout the twenties and became one of the biggest stars at First National Pictures. He received Academy Award nominations for The Patent Leather Kid (1927) and The Noose (1928). Sound was not a medium that would embrace Richard. He did make a number of talkies in the first few years of sound, but his acting technique was not well suited for sound and the parts began to get smaller. With his career over by the mid-30s, but he came back with a fine performance in Howard Hawks's Only Angels Have Wings (1939). Richard joined the Navy Reserve in 1942, and when the war ended he retired to Long Island and lived off his real estate investments.

Vintage Men's Fashion Posters-Early

This lot consists of four old color lithograph posters featuring the latest fashions in men's clothing. They likely were posted in Men's Clothing store but originally came from a large order ledger book. See the last scan which show some specifics of the suits. They are made of very thick stock and measure 21 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches. All of the damage shown in the scans could be framed out except for the third scan where the damage extends more on the right edge. You can get idea of the period these posters were made by looking at the automobile in the first scan. This would be a terrific display in a fashionable men's store. I have no idea how much shipping will be but will refund the excessive postage paid.
