Stage Tickets-Southern Exposition-Louisville Kentucky
Item #: NEW-0014909

Condition problems with this strip of  Stage tickets to the Southern Exposition in Louisville.  I think the damage was caused by water, particularly in the middle where it has bleached out and with a tear.  It is one long strip but I had to scan the front and bottom.

from Wikipedia
The Southern Exposition was a five-year series of World's fairs held in the city of Louisville, Kentucky from 1883 to 1887 in what is now Louisville's Old Louisville neighborhood. The exposition, held for 100 days each year on 45 acres (180,000 m2) immediately south of Central Park, which is now the St. James-Belgravia Historic District, was essentially an industrial and mercantile show. At the time, the exposition was larger than any previous American exhibition with the exception of the Centennial Exposition held in Philadelphia in 1876. U.S. President Chester A. Arthur opened the first annual exposition on August 1, 1883.

Lawrenceburgh-Indianapolis Railroad Company Stock
Item #: NEW-0014400

Rag paper item which I was told was from 1840.  The only examples I could find on the web were in archives although a small cache was found recently. The graphics are wonderful, there is some acidic staining which is much heavier on the scan but still unsightly.  Could be bleached out by a paper restorer or someone who knows what they are doing.  The stock share measures 8 by 10 inches.

1870 LH-Rutland Railroad-Rutland Vermont
Item #: NEW-0010080

Page and a little on the blank backside signed by John B Pay?.  Attractive graphics showing the along with the  railroad along with the Burlington Steamboat. Stain is more prominent on the scan than on the sheet.

Here is part of the history found on the web regarding this small railroad.

The Rutland Railroad was a fabled system located in the New England area. Based out of Rutland, Vermont the railroad is best remembered for the large amount of milk and dairy products it moved over its system and its classic forest green and yellow livery. The railroad finally succumbed to a long battle of money troubles in the early 1960s when a strike collapsed any hope of the Rutland Railroad staying solvent as it shutdown operations in 1961. Today, happily, much of the former Rutland Railroad system is still operated by successor Green Mountain Railroad, which hauls both freight and excursion passenger service over the line, much to the delight of the thousands of passengers which arrive annually to ride aboard its popular trains.

Southern Railway Company-1899 LH
Item #: NEW-0010055

Early railroad advertising letterhead for the Southern Railway company, which according to Wikipedia was a former United States railroad. It was the product of nearly 150 predecessor lines that were combined, reorganized and recombined beginning in the 1830s, formally becoming the Southern Railway in 1894. It was placed under control of the Norfolk Southern Corporation, along with the Norfolk and Western Railway (N&W), in 1982, and was renamed Norfolk Southern Railway in 1990. (The N&W continued to exist as a subsidiary until 1997.) The back of the letterhead is the best part which shows a map of the railway lines for the company.

Mississippi Central RailRoad Co-Invoice-1865
Item #: NEW-008984

This invoice was printed on the back of another form. Post war item from a Railroad which was the target of much war activity. Grease spot on mid right hand edge. The original Mississippi Central line was chartered in 1852. Construction began in 1853 and the line was completed in 1860, just prior to the Civil War, from Canton, Mississippi to Jackson, Tennessee. The southern terminus of the line connected to the New Orleans, Jackson and Great Northern Railroad at Canton. It also connected to the Memphis and Charleston Railroad at Grand Junction, Tennessee and the Mobile and Ohio Railroad at Jackson, Tennessee. The Mississippi Central was the scene of several military actions from 1862 - 1863 and was severely damaged during the fighting. Company president, Absolom M. West succeeded in repairing the damage and returning it to operating condition soon after the end of the War. The original Mississippi Central line was merged into the Illinois Central Railroad subsidiary Chicago, St. Louis and New Orleans Railroad in several transactions finally completed in 1878.

Charles Lindbergh Lot
Item #: NEW-006546

Four different items which I purchased shrink wrapped. Two different paper posters. One large one made for a Welcome home Colonel Lindbergh to Los Angeles California. This one measures around 17 by 6 inches. Upper left hand corner separation which evidently occurred after being shrink wrapped. Also a tear just below the word Electric at the bottom. Others nips and edge tears. The poster is a combination of information about the parade and also an advertisement by the Pacific Electric Railway. There is a smaller identical poster which measures about 3 by 9 inches. Two large nips out of bottom edge. The third item is a celluloid advertising button for Bond bread which features the Spirit of St Louis. Finally there is a brass pin which is pinned to the original paper, both in good condition. Note:  The large poster has suffered some damage in my care.  The left upper corner is now clipped which will, of course, not be seen in the scan.
