N B Forrest Chapter Meeting-1908 UCV Postal Card
Item #: NEW-0011094

Here is another one of the unique cards penned by L T Dickinson, Adjunct General of the N B Forrest Camp in Chattanooga Tennessee.  Unfortunately this card is in very poor condition with heavy and multiple creases, almost as if some one deliberately wadded it up.  There is also a chunk out of the left side.  This card is a tribute to S D Lee, UCV Commander, "Resolutions upon death of our beloved Commander will be acted upon."  Lee was the second commander of the United Confederate Veteran organization and he died shortly before the reunion that he was planning for.

UCV-N B Forrest Camp-Chattanooga-1907 Postal Card
Item #: NEW-0011086

This unusual postal card was mailed to Lewis Coleman in Chattanooga.  Looks pretty good despite one large light crease at bottom left and another smaller crease at top left corner.  It shows an old vet celebrating following his trip to the Richmond UCV reunion.  "Had the bulliest time!!" which was a nod to President Teddy Roosevelt.  The mimeographed drawing was made by the adjunct general L T Dickinson.  These unique cards featured original drawings by Dickinson early month between the years of 1886-1923.  Most of the cards represented Dickinson's point of view on national, international issues as well as political issues, local, state, and federal.

RPC-UCV Reunion-John D Dowling-Ga
Item #: NEW-008841

The back drop on this card appears to be Stone Mountain in Atlanta Georgia, presumably at a reunion. The vet is identified on the back in very shaky writing, John D Dowling. The following information was taken from the web, "John D Dowling enlisted in Company E, 1st Confederate regiment, Georgia Volunteers at Fort Gaines Garrison. In January 1864 he took part in the battle at Rocky Face Ga and went through the Atlanta campaign. He was in the battle of Franklin and was by the side of Colonel Smith when he fell. He was among the few who went over the breastworks in the charge. He went between the lines to rescue his Company's Colors, three had fallen in the attempt. He was in the Battle of Nashville and was captured in December 16, 1864, sent to Camp Douglas Il and released in June 1865. I don't know the other man in the photo, probably some famous Georgian I don't know. Excellent condition on the card.
