Token Lot-Bibb Manufacturing Co-Macon Ga

The scan shows a scan of five identical tokens in this lot.
These tokens were used to pay the workers at the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Macon Georgia. They were given a token like this when they completed a task. It may be considered scrip rather than a token, I'm not sure about the proper name. The tokens says "Bibb Mtg Co Spooler Check No One Mill and some variety on the backs.
Here is a history of the Company found on the web. Bibb Manufacturing Company, an important part of Georgia's cotton and textile industry for more than a century, became one of the state's largest employers by the mid-1950s before its decline and sale in 1998. The company was known for its quality textile products, originated in Macon in 1876. Named for Bibb County, the enterprise was initiated in 1876 by three cotton merchants, Hugh Moss Comer of Savannah and brothers Major John F. Hanson and I. Newton Hanson of Macon. The merchants set up their first factory for yarn production in a freight warehouse formerly used by the Central of Georgia Railway. Comer served as president and Major Hanson as secretary and treasurer. In 1878 they acquired their second mill by purchasing a former cotton factory, Macon Manufacturing Company. 1895 the Bibb Manufacturing Company employed 700 workers and consumed 20,000 bales of cotton annually. By 1898 it had acquired additional Georgia mills: Macon Knitting Company, Taylor Manufacturing near Reynolds, the Cordele Manufacturing Company, and two already established mills at Porterdale. Gambler Set-Pistol-Gaming Marker-More
Item #: NEW-0016633

This is an assembled set of items for the gambling man. Some of the items are not original to the set, I'm sure but other things fit perfectly. The wooden case measures 13 by 17 inches. Wear to the top with some gauges, scratches, deep and small. Original key and lined with felt. No markings on the box. Contents include a "Quality American Snuff "tube, mini balls, dies, bone and celluloid. These can be seen in the scan showing the whole box. The pistol is marked Bacon Co, Norwich Conn and cast steel. Attempts were made in the past to clean it. I tried to cock it but couldn't but someone else might be able to. One side of the grip has a pinkish stain and the other side does not. The place marker is Ivory as well as two of the chips. The cigar holder is meerschaum with a silver decoration and the cigar holder comes with its leather case. There is also a tie pin which may be gold.
Paypal will not be accepted on this item as I have listed at the price I paid for it and I was informed by a gambling set collector that this set is well worth it. Excessive postage will be refunded.

I've always been a sucker for old wood boxes. The set is not perfect, with some missing items from the various games. I found one checker missing and some of the chess men have been damaged. Obviously some of the cribbage pegs are missing and there may be other things. The game boards are leather. There are three little die in the cup which is either bone or ivory. The box measures 13 by 7 inches. The key to the box is missing. There is a paper sticker on the bottom, some of the letters are too worn to read but it ends in Uchars, London. Please view the scans to see all the contents. Circa 1890

Crystal Sports Car Paperweight

When I first saw this I thought it was a vintage candy dispenser that I could add to my vintage toy category. When I got home with it, I realized that it was too heavy to be a candy dispenser and the car is also too modern looking. It is crystal and frosted on the under belly. No defects and would make a good gift for a car enthusiast. Measures six and a half inches wide.
Disclaimer: Of course the fact that I have declared it crystal doesn't mean it is necessarily so. I know how to tell crystal in glassware but all I know is that this sucker is heavy.

I bought this wonderful piece from a antiques dealer who had obtained it from a family, possibly from their own family. It has obviously been largely untouched over the years. I believe all the contents are original but I don't know for sure. Some of the medicines may have been added later. Some items are missing, of course, but I believe that it is unusual to find so many of the original contents. The only thing that is broken is one of the glasses from the glass scales. There is a large crack in one of the glass scales. You will note that the apparatus for the scales and the weights are still there. All of the items were in drawers at the top and one both sides. The wooden boxes shown were empty. I will not accept paypal on this item but payment plans can be arranged.
Please study the scans closely as I believe they show all of the condition problems. I have to take responsibility for the replaced key insert on the right. It was lost in my move to Macon and had always been loose. I tried to re-glue it a couple of times and it would always come loose. I should have secured it for the move. It was replaced with another brass insert by a metal worker friend of mine. He worked only from a pencil tracing and I think he did a good job for not having the case to work from. It's not identical and the biggest problem is that the key which may or may not be original to the case. It does not engage the lock.
I have included an appraisal that was obtained in 1999 by a Medical specialist and well know Civil War medical dealer. Please review it. Ignore the shipping cost on the invoice. I have just guessed at the weight which will need to be determined when packed.

Deshler Nebraska-Crazy Quilt

This has to be a one of a kind item. Eighteen ribbons stitched together as in a crazy quilt. All of the are first, second, third and fourth place ribbons from the Thayer County Poultry Association and a couple from the State Fair. Dates seem to range between 1924 and 1929. Some wear to the ribbons but only one has serious separations. In the middle are clustered four celluloid buttons for first and second prize. Some spotting on the buttons. Hope this can find a nice home.
