Southern Railway Company-1899 LH
Item #: NEW-0010055

Early railroad advertising letterhead for the Southern Railway company, which according to Wikipedia was a former United States railroad. It was the product of nearly 150 predecessor lines that were combined, reorganized and recombined beginning in the 1830s, formally becoming the Southern Railway in 1894. It was placed under control of the Norfolk Southern Corporation, along with the Norfolk and Western Railway (N&W), in 1982, and was renamed Norfolk Southern Railway in 1990. (The N&W continued to exist as a subsidiary until 1997.) The back of the letterhead is the best part which shows a map of the railway lines for the company.

J B F Champlin-Cattaraugus Cutlery-Case Knives
Item #: NEW-007215

Neat 1919 invoice from the Little Valley New York cutlery company which has an engraving of the founder of the company, J B F Champlin. Also has ghost images of knifes, scissors, etc. This would make a good go with for a knife collector. Case Here is a brief history of this famous company which is from the web. The company was founded by John B.F. Champlin and originally called J.B.F. Champlin, later J.B.F. Champlin & Son. In 1886, Champlin’s brothers-in-law, the four Case brothers, W.R., John D., Jean, and Andrew joined the company. It then became known as the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company. They didn’t become a manufacturer until about 1890 when they purchased tools and equipment from the Beaver Falls Cutlery Company that had recently gone out of business. Cattaraugus went on to make extremely high quality knives and straight razors that are much sought after by collectors.
