This billhead from Macon Georgia is dated 1875. There is little nip out of the bottom right hand corner. Faint print.

This billhead has large corner creases and an overall dingy appearance.  The building shown is the same building used by Coleman-Burden in the late 1800's.  Perhaps Waxelbaum bought this dry goods business.  Many businesses in the South struggled after the Civil War. 

Acidic staining or perhaps water stains along the top edge area.  Folds and spindle hole.

Two and a half page personal letter written and signed by the owner, George S Jones, a prominent citizen of Macon who was a captain in the Civil War.

Printed revenue stamp which has been canceled with a hole in middle.

Two page complete business letter.  The scans do not show the true color of the thin, slightly yellow paper. I think it was because I scanned the two together. I would be surprised if this hotel is still standing but don't know the history.

One page letter dated 1894 which is completed on the other side.  The cover is stained as can be seen in the scan.

This letterhead and cover are dated July 10th 1876.  It has had some moisture damage evidenced by some rippling on both items.  There is slight running of the ink on the letter. The cover has staining on the front and back.  This Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing company is not a maker of sewing machines. According to my research on the web, this company in Savannah produced tobacco. According to this link: http://www.floridamemory.com/items/show/29289, the company was moved to Macon Georgia shortly after this letter was written due to the Yellow Fever epidemic in Savannah. The proprietor was W B Cleves and he wrote this letter in July of 1876 and the company was moved in September. I have been unable with my brief research to learn the history of the company when they moved to Macon.

These are the earliest checks I have ever had.  Made on rag paper.  There is a thin strip of scotch tape on the back in two places.  There is also some scattered spots.  See scan

Unused condition.  Measures 6 X 3 plus inches. This blotter is dated 1926

Vintage bottle which measures three and a half inches tall.  Hair line fracture running from the right bottom edge of the paper label to the mid back of the bottle.  See second scan. I can see some imperfections in the bottle which may mean it was hand blown.  Bottles are not an area of expertise to me.  I was told that it was a Civil War era bottle.  There is a history on the web about  Weightman, who was a prominent chemical manufacturer.  Powers joined him in 1814. This concoction was used to treat "typhus" fever. This would be a nice item for a medical collector.

Billhead dated 1864 is on blue rag paper. There is a strip of paper glued on the back and a portion glued on the front at the top left hand corner which could probably be floated off.

This looks like a big operation but wasn't able to find much about it on the web.  "A Normal School, a Preparatory School, A Commercial School, a High School, and a School of Piano Voice and Expression."  A couple of rough edges on the left hand side, folds and age toning on the edge areas which appears in the scan.

This 1877 billhead was for a livery and sale stable.  Marred by large ink stain.

There are three letters from the 1880s in this lot, one written by E G Hayes to his wife at the Merchants Hotel in St. Paul Minnesota. and the other two from the Merchant's Hotel in Deadwood, D T.  The graphic letter sheets showing the hotel was the letter addressed to the wife and is seven pages long.  The advertising cover is from the Hotel in Deadwood.  The cancel is indistinct but presumably from Deadwood. The content of all three letters (four pages) is regarding the struggles of E G Hayes to bring his ill son home.  He was a soldier at Fort Meade.  He was able to do some sight seeing while attempting to go to Fort Meade.  ""visiting the large gold quartz mills here to day.  Some of them the largest in the world and gold quartz in the hills here to? twenty five such mills running for one hundred years.  There is now thirteen mills running five new ones building within four miles of Deadwood, turning out from 25 ? $125.00 per month for each mill.  The Terry Mills pays profit from all expenses of $75.00 per month."

The title of this little catalog is "Top and Trimmings".  It measures around six by five inches.  Cover spine separated to first staple but otherwise in excellent condition.  A insert stuck in the album identifies the date as 1898. Thirty eight pages of illustrations and content.  It was mailed in the large cover which also has great graphics.
