Judson College Vintage Paper Lot-Maron Alabama
Item #: NEW-0016170

Here are three unrelated paper items from Judson College. One is a letter to Mattie Jones, saying they are pleased with her teacher performance and are hiring her again for the coming year.  Unfortunately the graphic of the college was partially trimmed.  The letter is signed by Robert G Patrick and is dated March 15, 1913.  The second item is a small program for the eightieth commencement in 1918. Finally there is a letter to the same Miss Jones from Dr. T A Miller, who relates to her that he has resigned due to the financial problems of the school.

Here is some information on this small women's college supported by the Baptist Church: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judson_College_(Alabama)

South West Virginian Newspaper-1900 Letter-Editor
Item #: NEW-0014872

Two page letter with a strange graphic, labeled "The Devil" and dated April 13, 1900.  The letter is written to the Honorable William F Rhea, who was a state Congressman  from Virginia and is signed by W H Eads, presumably the editor of the paper published in Jonesville Virginia, published by A M Goins. The letter gives Rhea his support and refers to a contested election Rhea has been involved in earlier, according to my research.

Wanted Poster-Child Abduction-Gulfport Mississippi-1904
Item #: NEW-0013815

This item measures 10 ¾ inches by 6, no doubt trimmed to remove edge damage.  I have made extensive repairs to the back with archival tape, including one vertical tear which runs through most of the circular.  Paper seems to be composition with a good amount of rag.

The circular contains a description of the abductor of a 14 year old child names Martha A McMillan, daughter of John A McMillan.

There is a very lengthy description of Henry Keith, aged about 40 years old.  Describes his personality as well as a detailed physical description.  Example:  "claims to do wheelwright work and watch repairing, says that he can open any safe that was ever made.” There are also descriptions of the child, Keith’s wife and daughter.

Tennessee Society of St Louis-1902 Program
Item #: NEW-0011340

This is more like a booklet than a program.  Holes on the side where a ribbon probably was but it is later stapled.  Chipping of the pages on the edges, the worst being on the cover which shows a sepia copy of a print of James K. Polk that is pasted on.  The same type of illustration appears on subsequent pages, including General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the chapel at the Hermitage, scene at Lookout Mountain, Matthew F Murray, George B Balch, Thomas H Benton, and Gov James B Frazier.  There is a Menu, Toasts, Program, Lists of Officers and Members and Honorary Members.  This society was made up of Tennesseans living in St Louis.  I don't know if it is still in existence or not.  Please view both scans to see the condition.  Note on the second scan the area that vermin had feasted on through several of the heavy stock pages.
