This graphic cover was not mailed but I like the graphics on it.

This is a letter from Youmans Brothers & Hodgins, who were Lumber Manufactures. One page letter signed by Ed Beuke?  Advertising cover with a clear cancel and a star fancy cancel. Cancel on back for Tracy Minn and another fancy cancel.

This cover is dated 1908 and  was roughly opened on the right edge.

Business letter signed by L E Welch addressed to R H Hardiway.   Nice graphic of Welch's Corner.  Interesting advertising cover with a stamp you don't see every day and a fancy star cancel. Postmarked from Albany Ga.  Ask for a more economical shipping rate with light protection, if you wish.  

This cover was mailed to Mr William J Henry, Walker C H (Court House/) Ga.  It is a large legal document on rag paper.  Overall foxing and some dinginess.  It is a land indenture in Monroe County Ga.  James Holder William Henry

Roughly torn at the top with a cancel from Thomasville Ga.  Addressed to Col Dudley C Smith -McLean Co Ills.

This cover is badly damaged but I like these advertising covers that cove the entire cover.  Boardman was a prominent bookseller and other paper things like stationary.  This cover is addressed to John R Lamar, Esq in New York.  There is pencil writing on the left side, which I could have erased to make it look better and part of the information where an owner wrote "stamp" at the bottom left hand corner which also has a partial cancel.  Macon Ga Cancel as well. 

Neat graphic of the warehouse on the 1887  advertising cover with an overstrike of the successor to this company, Thomas S Bean.  Addressed to Thomas S Bean, Esq, Augusta Ga.  Faint cancel for Gaffney, S C.  

This is the back of an 1888 advertising cover for the Merchants and Mechanics Bank in Columbus Ga.  Roughly torn and dingy in areas.  Fancy cancel on stamp.  Two Columbus cancels in August, can't quite read the day.  

Dingy in spots but front and back are in good condition for a used cover.  Addressed to G J Patterson in South Carolina. I have two covers from this company which must have been a shoe store. The other, also on site, shows a man trying on shoes.

Nice graphic on this cover from the 1870's (I think).  Fancy cancel on the stamp and cancel is from Columbus, no year given.  A couple of discrete jagged tears at the top of the cover where it was opened.  Back of the cover is free of problems other than where it was opened.  Address to Giles Patterson Chester C H South Carolina. 

Faint red cancel which I can't read but I believe it was mailed to Philadelphia from Barbados due to the seal on the back cover.  Printed Shi and paid 5, corrected to 8.  Mailed to William G (?) Thomas Esq in Philadelphia. 

Advertising cover for John Ford General Merchandise is Chemung New York.  The cover bears a 1898 cancel from Chemung on the front and an Elmira N Y cancel on the back. This brand of salt received the highest award at the Chicago World's Fair.

This stampless cover has a lot going for it. Large 4 in red which I guess is the cost. There is some very faint red printing but the only thing I can read is Nova Scotia.  Mailed to George Town D.C ?  Letter is dated 1850 but is torn, with some of the content missing.  See scans.

Beautiful engraving on the back of this gigantic department store  owned by S E Olson Co. According to the card inside the site was on Marquette and 5th Street. It opened in 1893 and was the predecessor of  the Powers Mercantile Company. See scans.  The front has some staining and I erased some of the dirt.

This appears to be a home made cover with an early Macon Ga cancel plus a hand cancel by the post master.  Empty cover with stamp hinges on the back.  The person I bought it from has written in pencil 1831 and I believe it is accurate because of the expertise and honesty of the seller. 

The back of the cover is advertising Macon Ga and its benefit.  Business cover and letter from R B Park (Robert).  Business letter addressed to his brother. See scan to view the condition. 

This booklet was published in 1969, compiled by Gilbert and Patricia Penny.  I have read this interesting booklet which contains information about other Southern states including Tennessee and Mississippi.  It is very informative regarding the trials of the postal carrier and the rough routes they had to travel.  It also shows the dedication of the the U S Government to move letters.  Postal carriers were exposed to great danger and hardships but were actually paid well for the time.  There are some illustrations of early Alabama covers and stamps.  Not paged but about 20 pages, front to back.

Jackson has been crossed out on the cover and Nisbit has been added.  Clear cancel from Macon Ga and a fancy cancel on the stamp

The 1893 cover is very acidic with toning and chipped corners on the right side.  Thompson apparently used to be located in Sharon Ga which is marked out.  Clean back with cancel from Charleston 

Nice graphics on this cover for the Cotton States and International Exposition in Atlanta Ga in 1895.  Produced by the Atlanta Clearing House Association.  Nice clear cancel from Atlanta and one on the back from Louisville Ky.  Slight wear

I can read the cancel on this cover which shows the first Kimball House, a famous house in Atlanta.  H.I. Kimball House was built by Horace Kimball.  S E Crittenden was the proprietor. I would estimate the date on this cover in the late 1870's.  Cut at the left edge and wear to the upper corner.  Clean back

Nice graphics on this 1904 cover. Cancel markings on the front.  Flag cancel on the back from Sharon Pa.

This cover was cut at the right edge and at the top there is staining.  I was unable to find out much about this grist company on the web but gather it is no longer there. The date on the cancel is either 1903 or 9, I can't tell.

This letterhead and cover are dated July 10th 1876.  It has had some moisture damage evidenced by some rippling on both items.  There is slight running of the ink on the letter. The cover has staining on the front and back.  This Wheeler & Wilson Manufacturing company is not a maker of sewing machines. According to my research on the web, this company in Savannah produced tobacco. According to this link: http://www.floridamemory.com/items/show/29289, the company was moved to Macon Georgia shortly after this letter was written due to the Yellow Fever epidemic in Savannah. The proprietor was W B Cleves and he wrote this letter in July of 1876 and the company was moved in September. I have been unable with my brief research to learn the history of the company when they moved to Macon.

This cover from the Stevens Brothers in Stevens Pottery Ga was never mailed. See scan. This defunct plant has a very interesting history.  See the links below.  In summary, the town was after  Henry Stevens who had a saw mill and pottery there which for a time after the civil war was the largest industry in Baldwin County.The plant was burned by Sherman in 1864 but was rebuilt after the war.  In 1876 Stevens sold the plant to his sons.and they then only made brick, drains, sewer and water pipes, jugs and other such things.  The plant was closed in 1960 passing through others hands.

Nice graphic of the Dixie Company which dealt in millinery on third street.  In the manner of the day, the company sought to elicit support from Southern loyalists.  Unfortunately they were unable to compete with the better stock of a store with Union in the title.  Torn at the side and a little dingy on the right edge.

Tear at top near the stamps and a stain above the stamps.  Cancel from Macon and a flag cancel as well.  Cancel from Richmond Va on the back.

Nice 1892 cover showing a Southern Planter which was the logo for this successful quack remedy company.  Faint cancel from Greeneville and a fancy cancel. This would be a nice go-with for the bottles.

Attractive and clean cover from E W Hoyt & Company.  Rubifoam. Back is clean. This would make a good go-with for the bottles.

Nice advertising cover from Ray & Co-Louisville Tobacco Warehouse in Louisville Kentucky.  1893.  Black Jack stamp with green fancy cancel.  See scan.  The back does have some pencil figuring.

Rare postal cover cancelled from Portsmouth in 1908.  It is in dingy condition, as can be seen by the scans.

I'm a sucker for graphic covers which show the building or the product the business offers.  I got so carried away with this one that I failed to note that it had a Canadian stamp so it doesn't fit in, through nice.  This sports a clear cancel from Sackville that reads April 25 00 which I can only surmise is 1900. The back bears a cancel from Halifax N S.   I tried to research this building.  What happened to the good old days when your search function took you to a site which had the nice yellow line that showed you where your quest was answered?  Now it takes you to a whole book and good luck finding out what you wanted to.  I was interested though to find out that in the early days Sackville was a temperance community.  I doubt that it still is, but it would sure be nice to have some of those communities now. Thomas Estabrooks was the proprietor of this hotel.

Neat little item for the stamp collector.  It is a tin which once contained 1000 stamp hinges  Measures four by two inches.  View scan to see the condition which includes some rusting on the decorative trim on the right mid side.
